Cleanup After Flood
Over the winter school break, some of the pipes on the bottom floor of the old highschool had broke and leaked water all over the floor damaging the preschool rooms and a kitchen. The seniors were tasked with sorting through needed and unneeded items that were damaged by the water. We took the needed items to the church across the street where the classes were to be held until they could fully restore the bottom floor and disposed of the unneeded items. Our class was divided into groups with each of us given a task. Some of us were told to move heavy furniture to the higher floors and others were told to transfer needed items over to the church. We also vacuumed most of the area on the bottom floors where it was needed. During this experience I learned a great deal about humility and what it means to help someone in need. The children needed a room to go to school and we helped clean everything out so they could dry the rooms. I mostly enjoyed sorting through the items in the playroom. Handling all the toys brought back memories of when I was in preschool. I least enjoyed the stench of some of the rooms. This activity will help me take notice when someone is in need and help them.

A portion of my class stops for the camera while we were moving filing cabinets and closets from the flood affected area.
Chisholm Trail Cleanup
Near the end of school our class was given the opportunity to acquire group senior hours cleaning and doing yard work downtown for the city. Most of us again split up into smaller groups all doing something different. I was with a group that replaced all the mulch at the gazebo downtown. Along with replacing the mulch I pulled weeds and raked leaves. Some of the city workers came by to pick up the old mulch and leaves. Lastly we power washed grease off of a memorial stone. During this activity I learned what it means to be a member of the community. By helping make downtown a little nicer, my pride for this town has increased tremendously. Watching the grease fly off the stone memorial when power washing it was probably the most enjoyable thing because it was was pleasing to the eye. From now on, when I drive by any downtown I will notice the cleanliness of the sidewalks and small parks.

Wellness Night
Wellness Night is a family fun activity time where elementary age kids rotate from station to station playing different games. Out of all the games, I was given the responsibility of supervising a game called Rock Paper Hula Hoop. The kids that came to my station were split into two teams. Hula Hoops were placed in a wavy formation on the ground with a team at each end. People from both ends would follow the hoops until they meet each other and play Rock Paper Scissors. The winner would keep moving down the hula hoop line until they get to the end. When they get to the end they win! During this experience I learned how to be responsible around children and look after them. I enjoyed nearly every part of this activity except for the hygiene of the little ones. This activity will certainly impact my future. Learning how to interact with children is a great trait to learn.

Cornhole Tournament
Leah Sommerhoff had asked if anybody wanted some individual senior hours during our classes group senior hours. She told me that it would last three hours and to be there on May 5th. A fellow classmate and I walked around from match to match and made sure that the participants were playing cornhole correctly and following the rules. Afterwards, we helped a few people load their cornhole platforms into their vehicles. Most of the cornhole platforms were owned by the people playing and not just by one individual. I learned how to watch out for cheaters even though the entire time I was there I did not catch anybody. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the tournament the most. It was a friendly tournament so the participants were light hearted yet competitive. I least liked the weather on this day as it was very sunny and hot. The day before it had rained so the humidity was very high. Before arriving at this cornhole tournament, I had not known how to play cornhole. Now, I know all the rules and different kinds of cornhole games.

Baseball Concessions
I heard of the opportunity for this activity from Lana Halling. She had notified the entire senior class about working the concessions during the summer baseball games and I replied saying that I would help. She got back to me replying a schedule of times I could work. I signed up for May 30th and May 31st. I arrived at the concessions both days at 5:30 before the baseball games started at 6 and stocked the condiment containers with mustard, ketchup, relish, pickles, onions, along with plastic knives, forks, spoons, and napkins. I also filled the pop machines with water and soda. Once the games started and customers started coming by and purchasing food I was at the window taking orders and customers money. I would tell Joe halling the order from the customer, he would fix all the food and pass it onto me to give to the customer. The first day I was there there were two games at 6 and 8 o'clock. Between the games were the busiest times. The line would build up to around a dozen people. The second day was nearly the exact same as the previous. I learned that a lot of people buy food from the concession stand during baseball games. I also learned how to work in an assembly line manor. I enjoyed when little kids would come up to buy popsicles and they would spend forever trying to pick a certain color of popsicle. I didn't however like when somebody would order a ridiculous amount of food. I now understand that the concession stand is important to people and that it makes the experience of home baseball games very extensive.

Baseball Umpire
My father is an umpire for the little league games during the summer and asked me if I wanted to umpire. The previous summers I had been a umpire and got paid, but since this was for my senior project, I could not accept the money. I was the umpire for 3 games. Both nights back to back. The first night was two 10 year old boys games and the next night was a 8 year old girls game. I was the umpire between 1st base and 2nd base and my responsibilities were to call the runner safe or out at these two bases when needed. I also had the shared responsibility with the main umpire behind the home plate of keeping track of the pitch count. I had a small device with me while I was umpiring that helped me keep track of the strikes and balls. In this activity I learned to quickly make decisions based on in-the-moment-knowledge. I also learned that there's a lot of responsibility as an official supervising sports even at this age level because the parents of the kids are very enthusiastic if they sense a lack of confidence in you. I enjoyed being there and watching the little kids play baseball the most. It reminded me of when I was their age and played. Something I enjoyed very much. The parents of the kids playing baseball is what I disliked the most. The majority of them took the games way to seriously either by yelling at the kids or yelling at me and the umpire. This activity brought me the feeling of being a little kid playing baseball back and I am very grateful for that.

Mexican Dinner for Border Queen Cruisers
Kathy Schmidt told Kassidy Bruey to tell the entire senior class that she was looking for 2-3 seniors that could help set up and serve food during the Border Queen Cruisers Mexican Dinner on 6-10-2018. Needing hours, I gladly contacted Kathy Schmidt from the information given by Kassidy Bruey. When I had arrived, Kathy Schmidt had tasked me with setting up tables and lining chairs up adjacent with the tables. When I had finished, I was then told to start setting up the buffet table and decorating it. Filling the coolers with ice and placing food on the buffet table was my final preparation task. When people had started to come in me and a few other seniors were in charge of the refreshments. Refilling drinks and the ice cooler were our main jobs. My time ended with folding up all the tables and chairs and carrying them back to where they belonged. I learned how to properly fold and stack chairs and tables while giving my hours to this event. Before this mexican dinner, I didn't know what the Border Queen Cruisers were. I mostly enjoyed the friendliness of the others working in the kitchen.

Sumner County Fair Program
This activity was made aware to me by a fellow classmate stating that Suzie Yunker was looking for a group of seniors to help operate and manage the Sumner County Fair program. I was notified of the first program meeting after contacting Mrs. Yunker. On two separate occasions the seniors and Suzie Yunker would conduct a meeting on the aspects of the fair program. We examined what the program has done in the past and brainstormed ideas for this years program. After attending both meetings and coming up with a theme and a full show with multiple acts, we began to set up for the show. We started by moving the stage to its proper spot on the fairgrounds and even repairing it some. Then we put up all the decorations and benches for the audience. The day before the program we had a rehearsal with all of the acts that made up the show. I was incharge of the act schedule and making sure the performers knew when it was their turn to perform. Everything ran smoothly when it finally came time to perform thanks to all the wonderful management and practiced acts.
